When a business needs a tool instead of another website

Suon Technologies builds both public websites and software people use to finish a job. Mixing those two in one sentence is how a business pays for pages it did not need, or waits for an app when a contact form would have done. This note is the split we use. It stays inside facts already on the software, pricing, and projects pages.

A website is the right product when the visitor is the public

If strangers must understand what you sell and send an enquiry, you are describing a marketing site. The published packages exist for that job: ₹9,999 up to 3 pages, ₹14,999 up to 5 pages, and ₹24,999 for a store of up to 100 products. Indrayani Fire Services needed a contractor-style public site with a path to contact. Meraki Trades needed a brand story and enquiry paths. FitMantra, Maua Agritech, and Ratnamohan Hospital appear as muted scrolls on Our Work. Those recordings show homepages, menus, and contact or product sections. They are evidence of website delivery, not of an internal operations system.

A website is also the right product when the “app” you think you want is really a page. A gym brand that explains features and an app flow on a marketing site is still a website until there is a build you install or a store listing you own. Suon does not claim a store listing for FitMantra from that recording.

A desktop tool is the right product when the work happens on a PC all day

Offices, shops, and back-office teams that bill, stock, or schedule on a computer often outgrow a browser tab and a shared spreadsheet. The software page describes desktop applications for that case: masters, transactions, simple reports, login, and data storage scoped to the brief. The stack is chosen after discovery. We do not name a framework on a proposal we do not intend to support. Testing includes the local install. Deployment is an installer or a packaged build. Support is bug-fix and small change inside the agreed window, not an unlimited rewrite.

Paper registers and chat threads fail here because two people can edit the same figure, nothing locks, and yesterday’s quotation cannot be found. A five-page marketing site does not fix that. It only gives the public a place to read about you.

A phone app is the right product when the job leaves the desk

Android applications on the software page are for field staff, event teams, shop staff, or customers. iOS is offered when the brief includes iPhone or iPad delivery. Ionic is the cross-platform path listed in training and in the Devidas Events case. Devidas Events needed quotations for event operations instead of leaving every figure in chat. Suon built a mobile-first Ionic quotation app. Private fields are not listed. A consumer store listing is not claimed. The five website recordings do not show that app, so the gallery is not a demo of it.

Play Store and App Store accounts stay with the client unless a contract says otherwise. “Prepared for store submission” means the build can be handed toward a listing the client owns. It does not mean Suon publishes the listing under Suon’s name.

Web applications sit between the brochure and the installed tool

Portals, dashboards, and ERP-style systems are web applications: login, roles, and data, not a public brochure. They are still quoted as custom software. Angular, React, and Node are the stacks named on the products page for that work, used when they fit, not as a requirement to adopt every logo. Analytics dashboards, when they are the point, are described with Power BI, Tableau, or custom Python. AI-assisted features are added only where they remove repetitive typing. If the honest fix is a form or a filter, the AI page says to skip the model.

A short test you can run before you write

Ask where the work happens and who repeats it. If the answer is “a stranger on their phone, once,” start with a website package and the scoping checklist. If the answer is “our own staff, many times a day, on a PC,” ask for a desktop or web-app quote. If the answer is “our own staff, away from a desk, with a phone,” ask for Android, iOS, or Ionic, and say whether a store listing is in scope. If the answer is “we need a film of the offer,” that is an AI video brief, not a software build.

One more boundary: analytics and AI features do not change the product type by themselves. A dashboard is still custom software when leaders need live operational numbers, whether it is Power BI, Tableau, or a Python view named on the software page. An AI button inside that tool is still the same build, scoped only where it removes repetitive work. Neither one is purchased by ticking the blog line on the ₹14,999 card. If you are comparing a quote from another vendor, ask them the same question this note asks: is the user a stranger reading a page, or a staff member finishing a transaction? The answer picks the Suon page you should open, and it keeps the published website fees from being stretched over an app.

Send the software topic from Contact with the sentence “the user must be able to …” filled in. Do not send a package name if you cannot point at a page list. Do not send a website package name if the user is your own billing clerk.
